Tricase Porto
The shore at Tricase comprises two splendid marinas united by one of the most
breathtaking stretches of coastline in Salento: Tricase Porto and Marina Serra.
These are small settlements where once again the limpid waters and imposing beauty
of the coastal scenery set the tone. Interesting features include the Torre del
Sasso, in Marina Serra, and the magnificent Vallonea oak, one of the most gigantic
in Italy. This is the oldest specimen of this variety of oak, which is typical
of the Tricase district (and today protected as part of the Regional Park of 2006),
whose crown covers an area of approximately 700 square metres. It is an authentic
monument dating back to the 13th century that recounts another fascinating tale
to have arrived from the east. Don’t miss: the ‘bagni dei monaci’ or monks’ baths,
ancient baths carved into the rock in Marina Serra
