San Foca
San Foca is a tranquil fishermen’s village that bursts into life in summer, offering
lively holidays with discothèques and bars and eateries on the beach, the brand-new
promenade and the bazaar in the centre. The symbol of San Foca has always been
the watchtower, built in the 16th century under a coastal defence programme ordered
by Carlo V in the wake of the Otranto tragedy.
The shores of San Foca can satisfy any and every requirement: large and small
sandy inlets with several tropical-style bathing resorts, long low cliffs or impenetrable
stretches, and secrets of breathtaking beauty (foremost of all, la Poesia). |
